Rüstkammer
(Armoury)

With its inventory of more than 10,000 objects, the Rüstkammer (Armoury) is one of the world’s most sumptuous collections of decorative weapons and costumes. Some 1,300 pieces from all over Europe and the Orient will transport the visitor to the court festivities, chivalric tournaments, hunting expeditions and battlefields of yore. Splendid weapons, impressive jousting and tilting equipment, coats of mail and tournament scenes make up the primary focus of the collection.

The Rüstkammer is presently still located in the Semper Building of the Dresden Zwinger. Once the reconstruction of the Dresden Royal Palace has been completed, this collection will join those returning to their original accommodations, where it will receive visitors in spacious exhibition halls on the second upper level.
