Neues Grünes Gewölbe
(New Green Vault)

With the opening of the Neues Grünes Gewölbe (New Green Vault) on September 8, 2004 the first part of the world-famous treasure chamber returned to the Dresden Royal Palace. It marked a further important step in the new conception of the palace as a centre of art and science.

The permanent exhibition on the first floor of the West Wing will present select masterworks of treasure art in ten rooms. The unique cabinet pieces made by Dresden court jeweller Dinglinger, such as the Court of the Grand Mogul or the Golden Coffee Set, will be joined by fascinating objects of gold, silver, enamal and gems, ivory, mother-of-pearl, coconut shells and ostrich eggs.

In contrast to the Historisches Grünes Gewölbe (Historic Green Vault), the artworks will be presented in display cases. The rooms’ modern design will enable visitors to admire the riches assembled by many generations of sovereign in all their beauty.

The visit of the New Green Vault is possible without time-ticket.
